webobligatory links page

Links pages are sometimes a fun clichè to exploit, especially if one has no other content to put up and subsequently feels bad about it. So here are some amusing sites to explore.

People I Know

  • Dragonsea.net - Shameless plug for our main domain.
  • Pioneer Valley Goth List - Also known as PVGoth, it's the neatly designed home page that goes with the original mailing list of gothy happenings in the Pioneer Valley, and now the greater New England area.
  • Nora Pierson - She dances! She sings! She acts! She makes Julianne fries! Okay, maybe not the latter. But she's cool, and she's talented. And she likes cows.
  • BeatGoddess - Culture jamming goddess of poetry and piratey goodness. (We also live with hir.)
  • King Leary - Web site and utter cuteness of Athene and Lord Aerith.
  • Inle.org - Web-spot of the lovely, crafty Inle.
  • Eye on Science - Science blog of TIME science writer (and friend) Mike Lemonick.

Funny Stuff

  • Vectorpark - A strange little site with no explanatory text but a lot of imagination. Requires flash.
  • Kiss This Guy - The directory of Misheard Lyrics. Probably where Weird Al harvests his song ideas nowadays.
  • Anagram Genius - What would the letters of your name really say if you rearranged them? Great for people on the lookout for hidden Satanic messages.
  • The Surrealist Compliment Generator - Ever wanted to give someone a truly unique compliment, along the lines of "Your nose hairs scare me?"
  • Rinkworks - Home of such amusements as Book-a-Minute and the Dialectizer! How your web site would look if, say, the Swedish Chef from the Muppets wrote the content?
  • Secret Diaries of Lord of the Rings characters - So what's really going on in the minds of Aragon, Frodo, Sam, and Legolas? Why is all the strawberry scented bath soap in Rivendell depleted? And why is Arwen Undomiel's favorite purple dress all stretched out? Find out here. For some reason, works in Netscape but not IE. Weird.
  • PopCap Games - Need very strange and unique ways of frittering away a perfectly useful and respectable afternoon? You'll find some of the most insane and original games ever at PopCap! Keep Aliens from eating your guppies in Insaneaquarium! Clear away falling jewels in Diamond Mine/Bejeweled. Probably some of the best simple and maddeningly addictive games since Snood. Requires Java, may also require Flash.
  • Snood - And speaking of the Queen of addictive puzzle games...
  • Puzzle Pirates - Avast ye, and play the piratey captain of addictive goodness!
  • Shockwave - more addictive game madness! Play online pictionary with a group of total strangers! Segregate the QBeez! Waste valuable time! Requires Flash and Shockwave.
  • HomeStarRunner - People with far too much time on their hands. All I have to say is read Strong Bad's email on techno. Requires Flash and unless you're very patient, a broadband connection.
  • Spamusement - I'm not the only person who makes fun of their junk mail!
  • Baby's Named a Bad, Bad Thing - The horrible things people name their children, and one brave voice in the void rising up to give them the mocking they deserve.
  • Weebl's Stuff - Cracked out toons from the British.
  • Ill Will Press - Home of the hilarious rants of Foamy the Squirrel.
  • Newgrounds.com Presents The Flash Portal - The latest and greatest in flashtoons.
  • Bash.org QDB - Funny stuff out of the mouths of OMGG33K5.
  • Honda: Cog - The bestest, most jawdropping car ad EVAR.
  • Citroen: Alive with technology! - The second best car ad EVAR.
  • The Penis Truck Song - because my truck will always be bigger than your penis.
  • All Your Base Are Belong To Us - For great justice.
  • Weeeeeeeee! - Hold on to your little gonads... and strife
  • The Meatrix - the Machines are lying to you about factory farming.
  • Lobster Sticks to Magnet - well, it's about as coherent and point-filled as any other heavy metal...
  • Ebaum's World - warehouse of ways to kill time on the internet
  • Albino Blacksheep (flash) - even larger warehouse of ways to kill time on the internet
  • Racecar Insanity Test - try sitting through this for three minutes without laughing or making your own NASCAR noises.
  • Potter Puppet Pals 1 and Potter Puppet Pals 2 - Snape must be bothered. A lot.
  • Yatta! - another prime example of inexplicable Japanese humor.

Entertain me!

  • The Internet Movie Database - The one stop pit of useless movie trivia that always impresses friends and influences people!
  • The Cruxshadows - Goth band that dares to enjoy being dark and spooky. Excellent music too. Flash recommended.
  • Solas - Irish folk which just happens to have hot chicks playing violin. We likes.
  • Gunther - Really this should go under giggles, cause this guy is too ridiculous for words.
  • ReBoot Unofficial Home Page - The very first computer animated TV show ever, it stands as probably the best. Though the graphics may be dated ten years after its premiere, the plot and imagination that went into this series is still evident. Used to air on Cartoon Network and the YTV network in Canada, the DVDs of the 3rd and 4th seasons are available (though the 1st two seasons, if you can get a hold of them, are excellent.)
  • Harry Potter (Warner Brothers) - Official site of Harry Potter movies and merchandising. Requires Flash.
  • Harry Potter (Scholastic) - Official site of the books. How much random Harry Potter trivia do you know? Requires Flash.

New York, New York

  • NYC Subway Resources - Everything, and I do mean everything, you ever wanted to know about New York's historic subway system...
  • Abandoned Subway Stations - ...and a few stations that fell off the map.
  • New York Underground - So we all know what stretches and towers above the ground in NYC. What really goes on below it?

Random, but Important Stuff

  • Renderosity - A forum and gallery of and for 3D computer graphic artists using popular rendering software, such as Poser, Bryce and Lightwave.

News and Information

  • Sploid - HUGE NEWS ZOMG
  • Wikipedia - Cause I know I'm not the only kid who spent hours reading the encyclopedia.

Not for people with early bedtimes:

  • Jane's Guide - Pornographic sites reviewed by a woman? You bet. With Jane's Guide, seperate the stupid cookiecutter sites from the real gems of Internet pruience that are actually worth their subscription fees.
  • Good Vibrations - Also run entirely by women, GV is the oldest mail-order sex toy store and they carry just about everything, from cute cuddly Hello Kitty vibrators to classic x-rated films from the 1970s.
