Happy October! This is my absolutest most favorite month of the year. A few reasons why are noted below:

• No more friggin' mosquitoes. Die, little biting buggies, DIE. Hahaha.
  
  
• Halloween/Samhain. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Candy and costumes and trick or treating on one hand, vast pagany day of the dead/new year goodness on the other. Either way, a winner is me.
  
  
• Multitudinous pumpkins everywhere. Mmm pumpkins. With funny faces and candles inside. Or without.
  
  
• One yummy extra hour of sleeeeeeeep at the end of the month. Or not-sleep. Either way, yay extra hour of night like goodness! And if you mess up and don't set your clocks right, you'll be early for everything instead of late.
  
  
• A free day off of work/school right in the middle. We're not so cool with Columbus, but haven't you ever noticed it takes a slaughter of many innocents to get a day off in this country?
  
  
• pretty pretty pretty trees! And they're everywhere in MA in the prettiest of colors.
  
  
• Cool (but not freezing) weather.
  
  
• Atkins Farms cider donuts. (Atkins Farms is an awesome general store type object out in the armpit of South Amherst.) Actually anything involving the words "Apple Cider." Especially if other words included are things like "Mulled" "donuts" and "hot" (but not "Vinegar.")
  
  
• It's finally time for such warm yummy things as wood smoke, cocoa and fleecy bed stuff.
  
  
• Orion. Actually stars in general are just that much prettier on cold clear October nights than they are at any other point in the year. I think that's because it's cold enough to not be hazy, but not so cold that you freeze while stargazing.
  
  

But of course the number one reason why October is my favorite month? I was born in it! My birthday is the 7th. (Which is also one of the reasons why 7's my lucky number.) But considering how much other awesome stuff happens in October I feel completely justified in celebrating all month long.
